Ledger™ Live: Getting Started with Ledger™

Welcome to the Ledger™ Experience

Ledger™ hardware wallets are trusted globally for safeguarding cryptocurrencies. With Ledger™ Live, you can buy, sell, stake, swap, and manage digital assets in a single secure interface.

This guide will help you set up your Ledger™ device, install Ledger™ Live, and understand key features like security, PIN protection, and crypto account management.

Step 1: Unboxing Your Ledger™

When you receive your Ledger™ Nano X or Nano S Plus, ensure the box is sealed. You should find:

Ledger™ hardware wallet
USB cable
Recovery sheet (blank)
Instruction manual

If the recovery sheet is pre-filled, do NOT use the device. Contact Ledger™ support immediately.

Step 2: Downloading Ledger™ Live

Ledger™ Live is the official companion app used for setup and ongoing wallet management.

Go to ledger.com/ledger-live
Choose your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android)
Install the app and open it

✅ Always download Ledger™ Live directly from the official site.

Step 3: Set Up as a New Device

Open Ledger™ Live and select Set up a new device. Then follow the on-device steps:

Choose and confirm a secure PIN code (4–8 digits)
Write down your 24-word recovery phrase on the provided sheet
Confirm selected words to verify backup

Your recovery phrase is the only way to recover your assets if your device is lost or damaged.

Step 4: Add Crypto Accounts

After initializing your wallet, use Ledger™ Live to install apps (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and create accounts:

Go to the “Manager” tab
Install crypto apps you need
Navigate to “Accounts” and add your wallet accounts

🔄 You can manage hundreds of coins and tokens within a single app.

Step 5: Receive Crypto

To receive crypto:

Click "Receive" in Ledger™ Live
Select the crypto account
Verify the address shown on your Ledger™ screen matches what’s on the app
Copy and share the address with sender

Addresses should ALWAYS be verified on your device screen before receiving funds.

Step 6: Send Crypto

To send crypto:

Click "Send" in Ledger™ Live
Enter the destination address
Enter the amount
Confirm all transaction details on your Ledger™ hardware device

Buy Crypto: Buy Bitcoin, ETH, and others via integrated partners
Stake Assets: Earn passive income through staking (e.g., Polkadot, Tezos)
Swap Tokens: Swap directly from Ledger™ Live via DEX integrations

Enable Advanced Security

For users seeking additional protection, enable passphrase wallets:

Acts like a "hidden" wallet only accessible with your passphrase
Can store additional assets separately from your main wallet
Use a memorable but unguessable phrase

        ⚠️ If you forget your passphrase, your hidden wallet cannot be recovered — ever.
